What is Triggered Add-on?
Triggered Add-on is an in-cart upsell feature in the Promotion App that lets you recommend an additional product when a customer adds a specific product to their cart.
With this feature, you can create offers such as:
Buy a T-shirt → Get a matching Mug with 20% off
The add-on offer appears directly in the customer’s cart, usually below the product that triggered the offer. This helps you recommend relevant products at the right moment and encourages customers to add more items before checkout.
How Triggered Add-on works
Triggered Add-on follows a simple rule:
When a customer buys Product X, suggest Product Y with a discount
For example:

Once the customer adds the trigger product to their cart, the add-on product will be shown as an offer inside the cart. The customer can then choose to add the suggested product to their order
Why use Triggered Add-on?
Triggered Add-on helps you increase Average Order Value (AOV) by encouraging customers to buy related products before they complete checkout.
This is especially useful for POD sellers because many POD products can be paired by:
- Design
- Theme
- Collection
- Holiday campaign
- Gift purpose
- Product type
For example, if a customer likes a design on a T-shirt, they may also be interested in the same design on a mug, tote bag, ornament, poster, or hoodie
What customers see in cart
When the offer is triggered, customers can see an add-on suggestion inside the cart.
The widget may include:

If the add-on product is personalized, customers may need to complete the required personalization fields before checking out
