  1. What Image Optimization does in BurgerShop
Large images are one of the most common reasons a store receives a low mobile PageSpeed score. Even if your design looks good, heavy image files in product cards, collections, sliders, and banners can slow down page rendering and increase load time.

BurgerShop solves this by letting you control how images are displayed on the storefront through Theme Settings. Instead of manually resizing every file outside the platform, you can choose a quality mode that matches your speed and visual needs.

  1. Image Quality options available
BurgerShop provides three Image Quality options:

  • Normal (Default, Recommended)
BurgerShop automatically calculates and serves an optimized image size for the storefront. This is the best balance between speed and clarity for most stores.
  • Original
Displays the original uploaded image without optimization. This keeps maximum sharpness but often increases page load time and may reduce your mobile PageSpeed score.
  • Medium
Serves the lowest size among the available options to prioritize speed. This option is useful when your primary goal is improving mobile performance quickly.
  1. Step-by-step: Adjust Image Quality in Theme Settings
Follow this exact flow in BurgerShop Admin:

Step 1: Open BurgerShop Admin > Online store > Theme

Step 2: Find your active theme, then click Custom theme to open the Theme Editor

Step 3: In the editor, click General setting

Step 4: Select Product card

Step 5: Under Additional settings, locate Image Quality

Step 6: Choose one of the following:

  • Normal for the recommended balance of quality and performance

  • Medium to improve speed as much as possible

  • Original only if you must keep full resolution

Step 9: Click Save to apply changes.
FAQ:

  1. Will Medium make my images look worse?
Medium can reduce sharpness because it uses a smaller file size. If the storefront looks less clear than you want, switch back to Normal.
  2. 2. Why is my PageSpeed score still low after changing Image Quality?
    Common reasons include:
  • Large banner or slider images that are not optimized
  • Heavy images added inside product descriptions
  • Too many third-party scripts or tracking tools loading on the storefront
If you suspect this, optimize banner and slider images in the Theme Editor and review installed scripts.
  1. 3. Do I need to re-upload my product images after changing Image Quality?
No. This setting controls how images are served on the storefront. Your original uploads remain unchanged.
