Show or Require Phone Number at Checkout

The Phone number setting lets you control whether customers need to provide a phone number during checkout.

You can manage this setting from the Checkout page template in BurgerShop Theme Editor. This is useful when your store needs phone numbers for delivery, shipping carrier requirements, customer support, or order verification.

How the phone number setting works

The Phone number option is located under the Require field section of the checkout form settings.

When Phone number is enabled, customers are required to enter a phone number before they can complete checkout.

When Phone number is disabled, customers can continue checkout without being required to enter a phone number.

Note
This setting affects the checkout form only. It does not change customer account settings, shipping rates, payment provider settings, or order notification settings.

Access the checkout form settings

You can update the phone number setting from the Theme Editor.

Steps:

1. Log in to your BurgerShop admin.
2. Go to Online store.
3. Select Themes.
4. Open the theme you want to edit.
5. Click Customize.
6. At the top page selector, choose Checkout page.
7. In the left sidebar, open Checkout form.
8. Find the Require field section

Enable phone number at checkout

Enable this setting when you need customers to provide a phone number before placing an order.

Steps:

1. Go to Checkout page > Checkout form.
2. Under Require field, check Phone number.
3. Review the checkout preview.
4. Click Save.
5. Click Publish if needed.

After this setting is enabled, the Phone field will be required during checkout.

Disable phone number at checkout

Disable this setting when your store does not need to collect phone numbers from customers.

Steps:

1. Go to Checkout page > Checkout form.
2. Under Require field, uncheck Phone number.
3. Review the checkout preview.
4. Click Save.
5. Click Publish if needed.

After this setting is disabled, customers can complete checkout without entering a phone number.

Preview and save changes

After updating the setting, test the checkout flow before sending traffic to your store.

Checklist:

• Open the checkout page preview.
• Confirm whether the Phone field is required or optional based on your setup.
• Test checkout on desktop.
• Test checkout on mobile.
• Confirm that customers can continue checkout successfully.
• Save and publish the theme changes
