Create a One Click Upsell Offer

One Click Upsell helps you show a post-purchase offer right after a customer completes checkout.

This feature is useful for increasing average order value by offering a related product at a special discount when the customer’s purchase intent is still high.

Important
One Click Upsell is currently available only for orders processed through Stripe.
If the original order is paid through another payment provider, the upsell offer may not appear

How One Click Upsell works

After a customer completes payment for the original order, BurgerShop checks whether the order matches a published One Click Upsell offer.

If there is a matching offer, the customer sees an upsell page immediately after checkout.

The customer can then:

  • Click the upsell button to add the offer product.
  • Skip the offer and continue to the thank-you page.

If the customer accepts the offer, BurgerShop creates a new separate order for the upsell product. The original order is not edited, merged, or recalculated.

Before you start

Before creating a One Click Upsell offer, make sure that:

  • The One Click Upsell app is enabled.
  • Your store has products available for upsell.
  • Your store uses Stripe for payment processing.
  • The product you want to offer is active and available.
  • The product has at least one valid variant.
  • You understand that each accepted upsell creates a separate order.

Note
Customers may receive two order confirmation emails if they accept an upsell offer: one for the original order and one for the upsell order.

Step 1: Enable One Click Upsell

You can enable the app from the Apps section in BurgerShop admin.

Steps:

  1. Log in to your BurgerShop admin.
  2. Go to Apps.
  3. Find One Click Upsell.
  4. Turn on the app toggle.

After the app is enabled, you can open it to create and manage offers

Step 2: Open One Click Upsell

Steps:

  1. From Apps, click One Click Upsell.
  2. Open the app page.
  3. Review the About page to understand how the feature works.
  4. Click Create your first offer or go to OCU Offer.
  5. Click Create Offer.

The offer setup page will open

Step 3: Create a new OCU offer

On the offer setup page, you can configure the offer details from the form on the left side.

The preview on the right side shows how the upsell offer may appear to customers after checkout

Step 4: Set the offer name

The Offer name is used internally to help you manage your upsell offer.

Customers may not see this name unless it is also used in the offer message or display content.

Steps:

  1. In the Offer name field, enter a clear name.
  2. Use a name that helps you identify the offer later

Step 5: Choose target products

The Target Product setting controls which completed orders can trigger the upsell offer.

Depending on your setup, you can choose:

OptionDescription
All productsThe upsell can appear after every paid order
Specific productThe upsell appears only when the original order includes selected products

Steps:

  1. In Target Product, choose All products or Specific product.
  2. If you choose Specific product, select the product that should trigger the offer.
  3. Select variant or quantity conditions if available.

Tip
Use Specific product when you want the upsell to be highly relevant to the customer’s original purchase. Use All products if the offer is suitable for most customers.

Step 6: Choose offer products

The Offer Product is the product shown to customers on the upsell page.

Steps:

  1. In Offer Product, select the product you want to sell as the upsell.
  2. Select the product variant.
  3. Review the product image, price, and variant details.
  4. Optional: Click Add another product to add a second offer product.

Note
The first offer product is required. The second offer product is optional.

Important
Avoid using the same product as both the target product and the offer product. The upsell should feel like a relevant add-on, upgrade, or complementary item.

Step 7: Set pricing and discount

The Pricing & Discount section controls the discount shown on the upsell offer.

You can choose one of the following discount types:

Discount typeDescription
PercentageApplies a percentage discount, such as 20% off
Fixed amountApplies a fixed discount amount, such as $5 off

Steps:

  1. Go to Pricing & Discount.
  2. Select Percentage or Fixed amount.
  3. Enter the discount value.
  4. Review the calculated OCU offer price.
  5. Check the preview on the right side.

Important
The OCU offer creates a new separate child order. It does not modify the original order total.

Step 8: Add a custom message

The Custom Message section lets you personalize the message shown to customers on the upsell page.

You can customize:

  • Headline
  • Message

Step 9: Preview the offer

The offer preview appears on the right side of the setup page.

Use the preview to check:

  • Offer headline
  • Message
  • Product image
  • Product name
  • Variant
  • Original price
  • Discounted price
  • CTA button
  • Skip link

The preview helps you review the customer experience before publishing the offer.
